Committed to the environment
Committed to the environment
Sustainability is a factor increasingly valued by companies as a commitment to reduce carbon emissions. The reduction of CO₂ emissions and other greenhouse gases (GHG) and pollutants is necessary for society as a whole and contributes to the fight to mitigate climate change, as well as to improve the quality of the air we breathe. Therefore, in Auteide we are betting on renewable energies, installing solar panels in our points of sale in order to contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint.
ADVANTAGES OF INSTALLING SOLAR PANELS (EXTRACT FROM RETAIN TECHNOLOGIES)
The carbon footprint is one of the indicators of environmental sustainability that calculates the total carbon dioxide emissions that are released into the atmosphere. This measurement helps us to define reduction plans and practices for savings, seeking efficiency and sustainability. They usually lead to actions such as less production of wastewater or waste.
Solar energy through photovoltaic panels is very low polluting. No chemical process is needed to produce solar energy and no harmful substances are expelled into the atmosphere. It is an energy that does not contribute to global warming or the greenhouse effect. Another very relevant point of self-consumption by means of photovoltaic panels is that the energy is produced in the same place it is used and in a much more sustainable way.
One of the complaints of many detractors of solar energy is that the manufacturing process of these technologies emits a large amount of carbon dioxide. Well, a study conducted by Nature Communications explains that the manufacture of solar panels has reduced the emission of harmful gases by between 17% and 24%. That is, if we count what they avoid with their use and what they generate with their production, it is a more than favorable relationship towards the carbon footprint.
This kind of actions favor the CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) of the company, that is to say, the active and voluntary contribution to improve the social, economic and environmental aspects. The aim of CSR is to improve the competitive situation and add value to companies.
The commitment to renewable energies in CSR is contemplated in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mentioned at the beginning, in the 2030 Agenda.
The commitment also on the part of the regulatory framework in recent years with the elimination of taxes and the management of surpluses is already a reality. Facilitating companies’ access to these facilities is a clear commitment on the part of the organizations.
